Radio Sales Account Manager

We are looking for a person who wants to make a career in sports marketing sales.   If you are passionate about sports - and passionate about selling - we'd like to talk to you about joining our sales department as an Account Manager.  Taughannock Media is a truly entrepreneurial company.  We are privately owned and committed to helping our clients through our sports marketing assets.  

This position requires someone who is committed to developing successful, enduring relationships with current and potential clients, which result in selling advertising campaigns to them on our station designed to get results! We give you the marketing resources and training, we need you to provide the energy and enthusiasm for selling.

      Major Responsibilities of This Position:

• Developing new advertising clients through a relentless drive to generate new business
• Face to face meetings with prospective clients
• Involvement in the local business community, developing relationships with business owners and decision makers
• Creating advertising campaigns for your clients that are focused on their marketing needs and growing their business
• Developing strong relationships with clients to ensure success and repeat business
• Closing business and executing the client campaign as agreed upon
• Coordinating all aspects of an advertising campaign including copy, ad production, billing, collections, promotions, and events
• Achieve weekly, monthly and annual sales objectives including sales goals
• Maintain regular customer contact through efficient time management skills
• Attend sales meetings, station events and training programs as required

     Desired Skills and Experience:

• Outside sales experience and a track record of successfully prospecting and developing new business
• A passion for sports, sports radio, and selling!
• An understanding of marketing principles and a creative mind to put together unique ideas for our clients
• Proven ability to ask for the business and the courage to ask again
• Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Internet, social media, and digital marketing savvy
• Excellent listening skills and strong curiosity to learn about your clients’ businesses
• Problem solving ability – someone who sees a problem as an opportunity to develop business
• Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to meet clients.
• A belief in your ability to sell and no fear of being on commission because you know the harder you work the more you make

SUNY Cortland/TC3 Correspondent

The main responsibility of this for-credit internship position will be to attend Cortland State and TC3 sporting events, interview athletes and coaches after games, and send the audio files to the station. The ideal candidate will also have the opportunity to provide weekend on-air sports updates, report live from Cortland, TC3 and local high school sporting events, and offer analysis of Cortland and TC3 teams on our local sports talk show, “Between the Lines”. He/she will also have the opportunity to learn production, traffic, web skills, broadcast writing, and all that goes into operating a commercial radio station. Ithaca College Correspondent
